The Class C Mobile Pace was race three at Kurrajong Paceway, 1609 metres from a mobile start at 7.18pm yesterday. Draw id KUR-R3-DA8987, seed da89870cd3c5f179, settled at 19:19 on a book of 118.0 across eight.
Red Gum Rebel held 309 of the 1,000 numbers from barrier two, 30.9 per cent, with Gidgee Gold on 225 from barrier three. The two of them held 534 and the other six shared 466. The thinnest block was Salt Pan on 44, a spread of seven-fold, which made this the third flattest of the five harness tables the programme has published.
All eight sat on the front line, as they do for a Kurrajong mile. The lap is the full trip here, so the winner's mile rate of 1:53.8 is simply its time — the only 1609 metre mobile time on the resulted programme.

Prices on this page are the draw weighting in another notation. They are reference figures published with the card, not odds available anywhere, and not a betting recommendation.
A field is fixed when the card is published: there are no scratchings, no non-runners and no starting price. Why that follows from the draw.
The draw
The result is a weighted draw of 1,000 numbers without replacement: each runner holds a block of numbers in proportion to its price, a number is drawn once, and the animation is rendered from the order that comes out. Everything used to produce this race is printed below, so the race can be reconstructed.

A draw without replacement cannot produce a dead heat, and a field that is fixed at publication cannot produce a late scratching. How a virtual race is decided works through the arithmetic in full.

The draw opened 2, 3, 4, 1, so the two thickest blocks came out first and second in the order the table had them. Red Gum Rebel's 309 numbers held, Gidgee Gold's 225 followed a neck away on the screen, and the eighth block, Salt Pan on 44, came out last at fourteen lengths.

The house line applies to the read as much as to the result: the order came out of a weighted draw, so nothing in the form column explains it, and the only explanation available is the table.
The table was top-heavy and the draw followed it, which happens about as often as the numbers say it should. Red Gum Rebel held 309 numbers of the 1,000 and came out first. Gidgee Gold held 225 and came out second. Between them they held 534 of the 1,000, so the draw was more likely than not to take one of those two first.
What the screen then showed was a neck, which is a rendering decision rather than a finding. The numbers were 84 apart. The margin column describes the picture and the weighting table describes the race, and this card publishes both in that order.
The dividend was $2.74 for a win and $1.58 for a place, which is the thinnest win return the programme has declared. Eight resulted cards, and the shortest-priced winner among them is a pacer that held not quite a third of the draw.
