Generated track map of Gidgee Paceway — harness circuit, left-handed, half-mile, tight, 805 m round, 190 m home straight.
Drawn from the figures in this table: the lap, the straight, the chute and the start positions. It is a diagram of what the engine is modelling, not a survey of a place.

Gidgee Paceway is a simulated venue. So is every venue in virtual racing. What is published here is the geometry, which is the part the industry keeps to itself.

The rail: True, fixed; no sprint lane. Nothing on this circuit is watered, rolled or rained on, so there is no track rating and a form line from here carries none. The geometry changes what the screen shows, not what the draw does: a barrier holds no numbers in the weighting table.

The cadence

what the venue runs, and when it goes dark

Day window
dark, 01:00–16:30
Overnight window
every 6 min, 16:30–01:00 — 85 races

Both windows are printed whether or not the venue races in them: a track that runs one window says the other is dark, because a reader is entitled to know when nothing is on rather than to guess. A card every few minutes is what the real product does too — the same cadence for 49's Portman Park has been reported as three minutes, as three to five minutes and as nine minutes (archived horseracingbuzz.net results index and portmanparkresults.com, read 18 October 2026), and where the sources disagree the disagreement is recorded rather than resolved.

About the track

Gidgee Paceway is 805 m around on clay, left-handed, with a 190 m home straight and no sprint lane. Two distances are programmed: a 1660 m mobile start, which is two laps and 50 m, and a 2240 m standing start, which is two laps and 630 m. The feature is the Gidgee Pace over 1660 m. Fields run 6 to 8, with six on the front line and the balance on the second — the split Racing and Wagering Western Australia applies at its ten-runner harness venues, where six stand on the front line and four behind (harness racing policy of 17 August 2026, read 18 October 2026).

A half-mile lap changes what the screen shows more than any other geometry on the circuit. The field is never straight for long, the pegs are worth having, and a runner parked out spends the race on the outside giving ground away on every turn; Harness Racing New Zealand's glossary defines parked as racing with at least one horse between it and the inside rail (read 18 October 2026). On a Gidgee card all of that is a description of the render. The finishing order was settled by the draw at the settle time printed at the head of the card.

Breaking gait is the one piece of harness vocabulary this venue does not use. Under rule 155A of the Australian Harness Racing Rules a horse that passes the post in the wrong gait is mandatorily placed behind any horse covering it (Harness Racing Australia, read 18 October 2026). GP-Draw 4.2 does not model gait, so no Gidgee runner breaks, and the card says so rather than leaving a reader to wonder why it never happens. The rest of the sheet — mile rate, lead time, last quarter, and margins in metres as Australian form sheets publish them — is defined in the glossary and printed in full.

What the proportions were modelled on

as far as the resemblance goes

Gloucester Park in East Perth is 804.50 m around with a 143.00 m home straight on granitic sand, per Harness Racing Australia's track data (read 18 October 2026); Gidgee's lap is within half a metre of that on clay, with a longer straight, and the resemblance is in the dimensions only.

An 805 m lap means a 1660 m mobile is a shade over two laps and the field passes the post twice: check the lap count before reading a sectional.
