The track

as at 25 October 2026 · engine GP-Draw 4.2

Generated track map of Mallee Park — thoroughbred circuit, left-handed, two turns, 1800 m round, 400 m home straight.
Drawn from the figures in this table: the lap, the straight, the chute and the start positions. It is a diagram of what the engine is modelling, not a survey of a place.

Mallee Park is a simulated venue. So is every venue in virtual racing. What is published here is the geometry, which is the part the industry keeps to itself.

The rail: True, fixed. The engine has no groundsman and never moves it. Nothing on this circuit is watered, rolled or rained on, so there is no track rating and a form line from here carries none. The geometry changes what the screen shows, not what the draw does: a barrier holds no numbers in the weighting table.

The cadence

what the venue runs, and when it goes dark

Day window
every 3 min, 08:00–18:00 — 200 races
Overnight window
dark, 18:00–08:00

Both windows are printed whether or not the venue races in them: a track that runs one window says the other is dark, because a reader is entitled to know when nothing is on rather than to guess. A card every few minutes is what the real product does too — the same cadence for 49's Portman Park has been reported as three minutes, as three to five minutes and as nine minutes (archived horseracingbuzz.net results index and portmanparkresults.com, read 18 October 2026), and where the sources disagree the disagreement is recorded rather than resolved.

About the track

Mallee Park is a simulated racecourse. So is every other track on this circuit, and so is every track in commercial virtual racing. Portman Park, Sprintvalley, Steepledowns, Brushwood and Millersfield are brands of the 49's virtual product, which Inspired Entertainment says has been present in United Kingdom betting shops since 2001 (company press release, 29 November 2017, read 18 October 2026); Sandy Lanes, Hope Park and Canterbury Hills were listed in 2019 as bookmaker-exclusive venues on an archived industry guide (read 18 October 2026). None of them is a place. What is different here is that the geometry, the cadence and the weighting table are published for every race: see how a virtual race is decided.

The track is left-handed with two turns: 1800 m around, two turns of 500 m, and 400 m from the home turn to the post. Races at 1200 m start in the chute, because 1200 m measured back from the post lands 200 m inside the first turn and the engine does not start a field in a bend. The rail is fixed. Nothing is watered and nothing is rolled, so the surface is a constant and a Mallee Park form line carries no track rating at all.

Five distances are programmed — 1200, 1400, 1600, 2000 and 2400 m — and the feature is The Meridian over 2000 m, which is one lap plus 200 m. Fields run 10 to 12 and classes run from Trial to Feature. There are no Group races: group status is conferred by a principal racing authority and this circuit has none. The long first turn strings a 12-runner field out and the straight brings it back together, which is what the screen shows. The order it shows was settled by the draw before the first frame rendered.

What the proportions were modelled on

as far as the resemblance goes

The proportions — 1800 m around, two 500 m turns, a 400 m straight — are those of a mid-sized Australian provincial turf circuit; no real course was measured for it, and the engine gives it no camber, no crossings and no weather.

The chute and the two 500 m turns change what the screen shows, not what the draw does: a barrier at Mallee Park holds no numbers in the weighting table.
